French Rejection

Why being rejected by the French isn't so bad:

Please, if you really love the French, and don't know how to take a joke, please just leave now. This is supposed to be a fun wiki, I don't want arguments. Got it?

This is an e-mail/forum discusion that has been making the rounds.

The Complete Military History of France
Below is currently making the rounds in the military community.

* Gallic Wars ‑ Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2000 years of French history, France is conquered by of all things, an Italian.

* Hundred Years War ‑ Mostly lost, saved at last by female saint who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman."

* Italian Wars ‑ Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians.

* Wars of Religion ‑ France goes 0‑5‑4 against the Huguenots.

* Thirty Years War ‑ France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded ‑ anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.

* War of Devolution ‑ Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.

* The Dutch War ‑ Tied.

* War of the Augsburg League/King William's War/French and Indian War ‑ Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Frog‑o‑philes the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.

* War of the Spanish Succession ‑ Lost. The War also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.

* American Revolution ‑ In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare: "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

* French Revolution ‑ Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.

* The Napoleonic Wars ‑ Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.

* The Franco‑Prussian War ‑ Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's Ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

* World War I ‑ Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States.
Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.

* World War II ‑ Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel Song.

* War in Indochina ‑ Lost. French forces plead sickness, take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu.

* Algerian Rebellion ‑ Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a western army by a Non-Turkish Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare: "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.

* War on Terrorism ‑ France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.

The question for any country silly enough to count on the French should not be "Can we count on the French?", but rather "How long until France collapses?"

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."

I am reminded at times like these of my father's love of the French learned from his time there during WWII (he never went back). "The French: They are always there when they need us." and "The French, invincible in peace, invisible in war."

Here's the latest French rejection courtesy of the British: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/4078230.stm Although in this case the British are doing the rejection. Funny how there isn't much rejection when it comes to bringing more money into France...

Terror Alert in France
Paris, July 26, 2005 - AP and UPI reported that after the new attacks in
London, the French government has raised its terror alert level from RUN to HIDE on their four level danger scale.
The two higher French danger levels are SURRENDER and COLLABORATE!
The rise was precipitated by a fire yesterday which destroyed France's white
flag factory, effectively paralyzing their military according to informed sources.

2004-10-03 [Thorgin]: Anything is better than the genocide that the americans committed against the native americans

2004-10-03 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: oh yeah, that was awful, and the Germans with the Jews,

2004-10-03 [Thorgin]: Yeah and Cortez with the aztecs

2004-10-03 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: Sorry, I shouldn't have said "Germans" more accurately "Nazis" Cuz some Germans help the Jews.  yeah I know, what is it with people and trying to wipe out another?

2004-10-03 [Thorgin]: I have no idea. Oh also... The romans and the Carthaginians "Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam" -Marcus Porcius Cato

2004-10-03 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: yeah they were brutal too.

2004-10-03 [Thorgin]: yeah. Slaughtered the carthaginians, burned Carthage, pulled down the buildings and spread salt in the earth so nothing would grow.

2004-10-03 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: *shivers and shakes head* Yeah I know the Celts were brutal, but they weren't like that, and for the most part other then their internal wars, usually had a good reason for fighting

2004-10-03 [Thorgin]: It was awful

2004-10-04 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: yes

2004-10-08 [aimfire]: lol

2004-10-09 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: Glad you like it

2004-10-12 [aimfire]: I love it

2004-10-12 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: :D

2004-10-25 [aimfire]: Weren't the Hugonauts French also?

2004-10-25 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: I don't think so.... *goes to find a dictionary*

2004-10-25 [aimfire]: I think they are French Calvinists. In fact a Hugonaut became Catholic so he could become the French King nd grant them (the hugonaunts) religious freedom

2004-10-25 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: Yes French Reformed, I think the reformation is what saved them, but still look at the civil war reference

2004-10-25 [aimfire]: still gotta check your sources

2004-10-25 [Lady Edana-Arianrhod Rós]: huh?

2004-12-10 [Thorgin]: I just thought of putting in a quote from the Simpsons "Bonjour, ye cheese-eatin' surrendermonkeys" - Groundskeeper Willie in French Class
